SBI Art Auction is pleased to present the “63rd SBI Art Auction｜Tokyo Contemporary: Redefined" on Saturday, March 9, 2024, which marks its third edition held at the Tokyo International Forum, taking place simultaneously with "Art Fair Tokyo 2024," Japan's largest international art fair. The auction highlights the vibrancy of the current art scene in Tokyo.
The sale features works from Southeast Asia, rarely introduced in domestic auctions, including piece by Affandi, one of the most important artists in contemporary Indonesian art history. It also showcases canvas works by MURAKAMI Takashi, currently exhibiting at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, as well as premium works by international luminaries like Andy WARHOL and Gerhard RICHTER. Additionally, sculptures by KOJIMA Nobuaki, which incorporate American pop expressions and ironically represent Japanese society during the economic growth period, are part of our carefully selected range of contemporary art.
Artworks can be viewed at the venue adjacent to the sale room on the day of the auction as well. Furthermore, we are running a PR campaign at the Tokyo International Forum's Plaza, where we will distribute original goods, including tote bags perfect for carrying auction catalogues, and drinks for free.
