SBI Art Auction　New video release

On Monday, May 1, 2023, SBI Art Auction will release two videos related to our March 2023 sale “Tokyo Contemporary: Redefined”.

One of our auction’s distinguishing features is its internationality, with overseas buyers accounting for 30% of successful bids. Among those overseas buyers, the presence of Asian customers, who make up 70% of our international sales, is increasing year by year. In our introduction video, our specialist based in Hong Kong introduces several works from our March sale and our company’s initiatives in multiple languages, including information on current trends, to serve not only Asian customers but also all our viewers.

Additionally, we will release a recorded video of the talk session “Let’s check the data! Is Art an asset?” held on March 11, 2023. At the event, Mr. Takei and Ms. Ishii from QUICK Corporation's Innovation Planning Dept. carefully explained the asset value and characteristics of art with the supporting of SBI Art Auction’s transaction data. The talk session was filled with ideas that expand the range of motives and reasons for purchasing art. We hope you will also enjoy the video recording of the event.

Hosting a LIVE STREAM AUCTION on April 14 and 15 from the newly built LIVE studio

SBI Art Auction is pleased to present the “57th SBI Art Auction｜LIVE STREAM AUCTION" on Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15, 2023.
This sale is the first LIVE STREAM AUCTION to be held in a newly built LIVE studio attached to the office that was relocated in February of this year.
The sale will feature canvas works by IDA Yukimasa and KOMATSU Miwa, who set world records at the March 2023 auction, as well as original works by artists such as NARA Yoshitomo, ROKKAKU Ayako and KYNE. In addition, limited edition works by overseas artists such as Andy WARHOL, BANKSY and KAWS will also be available.

SBI Art Auction, Co., Ltd. will relocate to a new office and begin operations on Monday, February 13, 2023.

Last year marked the 10th anniversary of our first auction, which was held in February 2012. The number of auctions we have held over the past decade has exceeded 50, and we continue to grow in both quality and quantity of transactions. Due to the expansion of our business scale, we have decided to move our office from the 7th floor of the East Building of the Tokyo Fashion Town Building (TFT Building) in Ariake to the 6th floor of the same building. The new office will include a LIVE studio and gallery space.

Releasing a Look back of 2022

SBI Art Auction is delighted to announce that an annual report to look back the year 2022 will be published on our website.

SBI Art Auction Co., Ltd. celebrated our 10th anniversary last year since we held our first auction in February 2012. We thank to the tremendous support from all of you.
 
We have had more than 50 auctions in the last 10 years, and with the increase in transaction value since our first sale. We have received a lot of interests from both Japan and overseas’ supporters. We publish an annual report for the first time to help to learn about the wonderfulness of art and the fun of the art market.

SBI’s 2023 year beginning sale held on January 27 – 28 in Daikanyama

SBI Art Auction is thrilled to present the "55th SBI Art Auction｜LIVE STREAM + MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART" sales on Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Hillside Forum in Daikanyama, Tokyo.

Starting with KUSAMA Yayoi's acrylic work with a vivid grape motif, eight original works in acrylic, gouache, and collage, including a chic monotone pumpkin, and 21 edition works; the diverse Kusama world will be unfolded throughout the lineup. In addition, a 100 x 100 cm square canvas work by ROKKAKU Ayako, a life-size canvas work by KYNE, and original colored pencil works by NARA Yoshitomo will add vibrance to the sale. Works by up-and-coming artists who have been redefining the recent Japanese art market such as IMAI Ulala and TOMOZAWA Kotao, a total of five silkscreen works by Andy WARHOL including a Campbell's Soup Can, as well as works by a number of notable international artists such as Jordy KERWICK and Edgar PLANS will be on display.

This year’s last auction to be held on Oct 28-29 (Fri-Sat) at Daikanyama

SBI Art Auction is thrilled to present the "54th SBI Art Auction｜Modern and Contemporary Art" sales on Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Hillside Forum in Daikanyama, Tokyo.

The last sale of the year 2022 will feature a canvas work, over 150 cm, by MURAKAMI Takashi. He is one of the Japan’s leading contemporary artists and this work was showcased in his first solo exhibition in mainland China. A rare wood sculpture by LEE Ufan, a master of Mono-ha school, created in 1971 when he was at the point of returning from sculpture to painting. In addition, an anticipated artist whose work made the cover of this sale’s catalogue cover, TAKEDA Teppei will be presented at the auction for the first time. Among foreign artists, Damien HIRST’s signature colorful spot painting, and unique pieces by master European and American artists such as Piero MANZONI, Alighiero BOETTI and Richard SERRA will also be featured. Another highlight including an Andy WARHOL’s silkscreen work depicting Queen Elizabeth II who has passed away last month. We would welcome you to attend this year’s auctions for the special line-up of works.

We are thrilled to present the "53rd SBI Art Auction｜LIVE STREAM AUCTION" on Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17, 2022. This sale is a no-attendance live-streamed auction.

The sale will feature canvas works by ROKKAKU Ayako, who set a world record at the July sale; popular artists such as KYNE, IMAI Ulala, and IDA Yukimasa, who have been selling at high prices at recent sales and original works by up-and-coming artists such as KONISHI Toshiyuki, SATOH Naritaka, and NAGAI Tomoko. As for the edition works, collection of six silkscreens including "Love Is In The Air", one of BANKSY's most famous works will be featured along with many other appealing works.

This video is a video of "Tokyo Contemporary: Redefined" sale held at the Tokyo International Forum in March.
The sale, our first attempt to hold the sale simultaneously with Art Fair Tokyo, was a great success, recording approximately 1.28 billion yen in sales.
